ANGELOS LIAKAKIS, CELLO
Angelos Liakakis was born in Greece. He took
his first cello lessons with professor Christos Sfetsas. As a scholarship
owener from I.K.Y. and Onassis foundations he continued his studies under the
guidance of Csaba Onczay, Leonid Gorokhov and Kim Bak Dinitzen. Since 2007 he
is a member of the New Hellenic Quartet , with which he has performed in many
concerts in Greece and abroad and has recorded for recording labels BIS, DECCA,
EMI Classics, Naxos, Legend and others. As a soloist he has collaborated with the
National Symphony Orchestra of Athens and Thessaloniki, Camerata Symphony
Orchestra of Friends of Music, the National Symphony Orchestra of the Greek
Radio, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Bilkent Symphony Orxhestra and
Orchester 1756. His repertoire covers a huge range of styles and periods from
the music anthology, from baroque to avant-garde. He is maintaining strong
bonds with many greek composers and he has already premiered many greek
contemporary works.
Angelos Liakakis is a cello and chamber music
teacher at Athens Music Conservatoire and Kodály Music Conservatoire. He regularly gives
cello masterclasses at Pilion Festival and chamber Music workshops at the Music
Village in Agios Lavredios.
